Happy Birthday Ronnie Lott!! In his Rookie Season of 1981, Ronnie became just the second rookie to return 3 INT’s for Touchdowns. He had 7 picks that year and was voted 1st Team All-Pro while helping the 49ers win Super Bowl XVI. He placed 2nd in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting behind Lawrence Taylor.
Jerry Rice was just 3 of 10 passing for his career. He had 1 Touchdown & 1 Interception. Who caught that TD? Who Picked off Jerry? Free Blaze goes to the Football Gumshoe who can tell us both players names. (Hint: Both occurred in games against the same NFC West Foe)
I have such clear memories of sitting in Mrs. Wiltse’s 3rd grade class back in 1990 with Jerry Rice clippings placed in the front cover of my new Trapper Keeper while she drilled us on those multiplication tables. Happy Birthday FLASH 80 !!
Throwback to September 5th, 1994 when Jerry Rice scores 3 TD’s in a 44-14 49ers win over the Raiders to surpass Jim Brown as the all-time TD leader with 127. Jerry would finish his career with 197 Touchdowns. G.O.A.T
Who else remembers when the 49ers almost did this? It was February of 1991, when they almost made the boneheaded mistake of replacing their classic SF logo, with this stinker. People can’t leave things alone sometimes.

Ricky was also the 1st running back to run for over 1,000 yards in a season for 3 different teams.
Did you dudes know that John Taylor had only 1 catch for 10 yards in Super Bowl XXIII? The good news though is that it was for a touchdown! With just 38 seconds left Quarterback Joe Montana found Taylor on a quick slant to cap off a 92 yard, 11 play march down the field. John also had a 45 yard punt return in the 2nd quarter that set San Francisco up in Bengals territory. That punt return was the longest in Super Bowl History, a record that would stand until Super Bowl 50. Happy Birthday John!

Happy Birthday to Steve Wallace. The San Francisco 49ers Offensive Tackle protected two of the best, Joe Montana & Steve Young, from 1986 to 1996, while winning three Super Bowls. Unfortunately he broke his ankle on the 3rd play of Super Bowl XXIII. I mostly remember Steve for his huge padded helmet that he donned for several years after suffering numerous concussions.
Niners Nose Tackle Michael Carter was an Olympic Athlete before his days in the trenches winning Super Bowls with San Francisco. In the 1984 Olympics he won the Silver Medal in the Shot-put. A cool story about his shot-put days dates back to his Senior year of High School in 1979 when he heaved the shot 81 ft. 3 1/2” to set the National High School Record. No other High Schooler has come within 2 ft of that distance during the last 40 years. His daughter Michelle won the Shot-Put Gold Medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Happy Birthday Michael !!
In January of ‘85 during Super Bowl XIX Roger Craig became the first player to score 3 touchdowns in a Super Bowl, as he helped the 49ers wallop the Miami Dolphins 38-16. He’s also known for being the first running back in NFL history to record 1,000 rushing yards & 1,000 receiving yards in the same season. (1985) Happy Birthday Roger !!
Taking it back 30 years to January 22nd,1989 -Super Bowl XXIII-Joe Robbie Stadium. Miami,FL 🏈 (1st Super Bowl in Miami not held at the Orange Bowl.)Also happens to be the 1st Super Bowl I can remember watching. (7 years old)
